In Yamal in 2017, the construction of the Bovanenkovo-Sabetta railway line will begin in the framework of the Northern latitudinal railway.
The Bovanenkovo-Sabetta railway will be used only for industrial transportation of oil and gas companies. The length of the road is 170 km. The estimated maximum speed of freight and passenger trains will be 50 km / h. It is assumed that the Bovanenkovo-Sabetta railway line will be the final link in the Northern latitudinal railway project with access to the North Sea. The “Northern latitudinal railway” project provides for the creation of the Obskaya-Salekhard-Nadym-Pangody-Novy Urengoy-Korotchaevo railway line in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District for the export of cargo from the fields of the northern regions of Western Siberia and the reduction of transport routes to the ports of the north-west of the Russian Federation.

In 2017, the volume of container transit through the Southern ports of Russia has increased by 3 times.
Since January till October Russian seaports of the Azov-Black Sea basin have processed 599.3 thousand TEU, which is 17.9% more containers than in the same period of 2016. At the same time, the volume of container transit through the South ports increased in three times and amounted to 0.8 thousand TEU.
